Cottonmill and Nunnery Allotment Association

John Boden - the winner of the 2010 summer show - was presented with the Ryder cup by Julie Aylett on Saturday 22nd January. He was also given honorary membership of the association in recogniton of his contributions to the committee and also his support of and interest in allotmenteers.

The cup was originally given by Leonard Ryder to St. Albans Horticultural Society of which Roger Aylett was a long standing member. When they went into liquidation they donated the cup to him for his committment to the society. It is inscribed as the “Amateur and Allotment Holders Challenge Cup”. It will be displayed at Aylett Nurseries for the public to view.

John's main tip for success is to enter as many categories as possible. As he is downsizing he says that this may be the last year that he enters - I'll believe that when I see it. But maybe it will give the rest of us a chance.

As you can see, it was very well attended, and everyone had a great time, especially John, I think!
