Hazel Marsden wins  Aylett's Allotment Challenge Cup!

The cold Saturday morning was quickly dispelled by meeting the good number of people who turned out to watch Hazel being presented with the Ryder Cup; her reward for winning the 2011 CNAA summer show. Hazel had been pipped to a podium a number of times but her persistence paid off with a well deserved win.

Alan Malin, our chairman, recalled that it was 53 years ago when he first visited the fledgling Aylett nursery. He was delighted that there is such a good relationship between the association and Ayletts, a feeling reciprocated by Adam Wigglesworth, Roger and Hazel Aylett’s son-in-law and a director of Ayletts.

Hazel Aylett appropriately presented the cup to her namesake Hazel Marsden. When asked for a couple of words, she replied “Thank you!”. She did credit John (her fiancé) and her future step children for helping!

Perhaps she and John will be too busy planning their forthcoming wedding which might give some of us a chance in 2012.

Ladies taking teaHazel and AlanJohn, and cup again!A Happy Hazel

Many thanks go to Hazel Aylett, Adam and the Ayletts staff who welcomed us so warmly and very generously provided refreshments and 10% on seed potatoes.

Hazel - well done from all of us !
