New Rules for Tenants
The council has recently issued a new set of rules for tenants. Tenants should have received their copies and they can also be viewed online. The rules came into force on April 1st 2010. This is a summary of important changes:
  • Plots must be in cultivatition between March and September - cultivation being defined as 50%. Non compliance can lead to a non cultivation order
  • Plot holders are responsible for displaying a plot number
  • Fruit trees must be on dwarfing stock (maximum height below 8 ft)
  • You need council permission to keep hens, rabbits or bees
  • You need permission to erect a shed, greenhouse or pond - any structures must be at least 8 metres from the riverbank
  • Dogs are now allowed but must be kept on a lead - and faeces must be removed
  • The council will cut the grass roads but tenants are responsible for the paths between plots
  • Bonfires are allowed but only from the 1st October to 31st of  March on Tuesdays and the first Saturdays of the month between 12 p.m. and dusk and must not cause a 'nuisance' to neighbouring residents or tenants
Please do read the rules as this list is only a subset. If you have any questions, contact the the council directly or the association.
